The story of the love lost between James Harden and the Philadelphia 76ers is not a secret anymore. NBA has never seen a player so vocal about his wish to change his teams or a swap. Things got so heated between the 76ers and Harden that the latter went to China for a promotional event and called out Daryl Morey, the 76ers’ President of Operations, a ‘liar.’
Things are very sour, as can be already anticipated, but where did it start? The primary reason behind this tiff is that Beard feels betrayed by the organization after he accepted a pay cut so that the organization could bring in PJ Tucker. The Beard accepted this pay cut, thinking that there might be a Supermax contract somewhere down the line. This never became a reality as the supermax contract never came to become a reality. This started the infamous feud between James Harden and the 76ers.
Clippers & Harden
Ever since Harden has expressed his wish to swap 76ers, he has been anticipating getting a call from the LA Clippers. As there was no news of the same, everyone thought that the Clippers were not interested in Beard. However, in a recent turn of events, the narrative shifted a little.
In a recent podcast, Brian Windhorst reported that the Clippers were in talks with the 76ers. Windhorst reported, “[Clippers] tried to trade for James Harden, and that deal didn’t happen. And from what I understand, it was the Clippers who said, ‘Okay, there’s no deal here. We’re gonna move on.’ And while I assume that they could certainly make a deal midseason, I assume that this is what they’re gonna go with.”
This might come as a piece of disappointing news to Harden, but according to another business insider, Zach Lowe, this might not be the end of it. Lowe immediately contradicted Windhorst and said, “I don’t think we’ve seen the last of those talks. I have a feeling those talks will be reignited at some point.” therefore making a complex situation all the more complex.
