Sunday was looking great for the New York Giants as Saquon Barkley pulled the team out of a tight spot in a game against the Cardinals.
But just as fans were getting excited to see their favorite team on top, Barkley landed awkwardly after a tackle in the fourth quarter. Following this, medical professionals escorted Barkley out of the field.
Post the injury, Barkley did try to remain on the ground and walk it off. But that did not happen, as the pain was greater than expected.
This left Barkley frustrated, and he was seen slamming his helmet onto the ground. Following this, he was on the sideline, where trainers were taping him.
Multiple sources confirmed that Barkley suffered a sprained ankle and that he will have to undergo further testing on Monday. After what happened to Aaron Rodgers, fans are especially on the edge.
Since Barkley is one of the primary contributors to the team, if he is out of the picture, things can become a little difficult for the team.
The Injury & The Man:
As of now, doctors believe that there is no cause for concern for Barkley. It is not more than a sprained ankle.
But they will still wait for the reports to come in. This will provide the actual picture of what happened and how to proceed.
But they do suggest that Barkley should take some time off the gridiron till he is patched up enough to play.
This is, again, a piece of bad news for the team as they are about to face the San Francisco 49ers in an upcoming game. With Barkley out of the picture, the onus falls on Dion Lewis.
