Even though the Indian cricketing side failed to lift the ICC World Cup 2023, it would be wrong to say that they failed to make a mark. The Indian batsman, Virat Kohli, managed to stun everyone with his impeccable performance this season. Kohli managed to secure a tremendous total run rate that remains mostly unparalleled.
19th November was a bittersweet day for Kohli and his fans. On one hand, the Indian team lost to the Australian side. On the other hand, we have seen former skipper and tremendous batsman Virat Kohli managing to secure a Man Of The Tournament title. This oxymoronic turn of events left every Indian cricketing fan fumbling and confused.

Virat Kohli managed to score a total of 765 runs across 11 innings. This is the highest-ever score any batsman has secured in a single season of World Cup. His average this season was around 95.52, along with a strike rate of 90.3. An amazing feat of showmanship. The former Indian Skipper managed to score at least six half-centuries, including the one he scored today.
This edition of the World Cup will always be one of his finest and most memorable as he managed to breeze past even his biggest role model, Sachin Tendulkar. Sachin Tendulkar initially held the record of 49 ODI centuries. But this season, Kohli managed to surpass Tendulkar and set the record of 50 ODI Centuries.
Even after accomplishing so much, Virat Kohli understandably looked disappointed. And this shows that Kohli, in the end, is a team player, and individual achievements come second. In fact, this is something even Messi went through as he managed to secure similar accolades but his team lost the event.
