The ongoing US Open is one of the biggest clashes for tennis enthusiasts. Therefore, it is quite natural to have real hype around it. Americans love supporting their local tennis talent and rooting for them.
Hence, when two Americans clash, the fans go all crazy. Something similar happened when Frances Tiafoe and Ben Shelton clashed in the quarter-final.
Fans and experts were waiting for the match to happen so they could analyze every aspect of it. But given the hype around the match, people started discussing anything and everything, including earlier match stats, personal lives, lifestyle, etc.
Amidst this media circus, one fan noticed a weird mark on Ben Shelton’s serving hand, and this sent the media into frenzy mode.
The initial few reactions were mostly speculations and fans weaving conspiracy theories. But it was later found out that it was a mark that is left by a procedure called cupping.
Another fan turned into a web sleuth and found another picture of Shelton from 2022, where we see a cupping mark on his thighs.
Therefore, the fan inferred that this is something that Ben Shelton has been doing for a while now. But what does cupping do, actually?
The Psuedo Science Of Cupping:
Experts believe that the therapy uses suction to improve the overall blood flow in a concentrated area.
Users claim that this therapy is especially useful in easing back pain, neck pain, migraines, etc. This theory is claimed to be ancient but has become quite famous as of late.
However, experts believe that this therapy does essentially nothing and functions as a placebo effect. In fact, many experts go to the extent of calling this therapy as nothing but a way to fleece people.
But, if a tennis wiz like Ben Shelton believes that it does something for them, who are we to argue?
