Golf can be grueling and dramatic at times. With the FedEx Cup playoff concluded, fans agreed that it was as grueling and dramatic as ever. Viktor Hovland toiled on the course for four days and came out of the other end of the barrel with a career record, course record, and a victory. This was seminal for golfers as well as the golf fraternity as Hovland managed to do something that nobody else did.
2023 has been good to Hovalnd up until now. This was his second victory of this season, and he took home a coin purse of around $3.6 million out of the $20 million. Right after winning this historic match, he made a startling revelation about the shot he played, which befuddled everyone present.
The young golfer started the second round in the second position. Viktor was exactly three shots behind England’s Matt Fitzpatrick And Scottie Scheffler. However, as the match progressed, the Norwegian slowly closed the gap and, in time, climbed the leaderboard.
As he proceeded to the second half of the round, he clenched onto his position and eventually won the final round of the FedEx Cup playoff. Post his victory, this 25-year-old champion talked to the media to discuss his winning and the strategies he followed.
Hovland, his 14th-hole shot, was one of the most memorable shots. Shay admitted to lying to the caddie and said, “9-iron’s not going to get there. I’m going to have to just hit an 8-iron and it’s going to come out low and hopefully, it releases out the perfect amount.”
