Elina Svitolina is what you call a super mommy. Elina not only managed to ace her game on multiple occasions, but her journey to motherhood is also something remarkable. 2023 began with Elina adjusting to her new role of being a mother. But seven months later, she returned to court with a bang after defeating the World No. 1 in Wimbledon 2023. But things were not as easy as people would like it to be. In fact, Elina herself agreed that juggling between roles was one of the biggest and the hardest challenges she faced.
Apart from her amazing tennis mastery and being a mother, Elina is also a responsible citizen of her motherland, Ukraine. She is one of the most vocal individuals about the trials and tribulations faced by the Ukrainian people due to the Russian invasion. Elina, along with her friend Iga Swiatek made some amazing donations for war-ravaged families and children.
Elina is not just a name that is famous for her tennising skills, but a major spokesperson of political and feminist struggles. According to her words, ‘it is really difficult because you have to sacrifice something. I want to spend much more time with my daughter, but I have work, tennis, and media activities.”
Svitolina also remembers how tennis was termed a ‘second-priority.’ But her recent demonstration of fine tennis skills certainly showed that it is far from the truth. Often, females are expected to juggle several roles at the same time but are only reduced to being one-dimensional beings with singular motivations and expectations. But Elina is the beacon of example who managed to do all the motherly duties and more. This shows the strength it takes to be a woman.
