The golfing community has gone through some really drastic changes in the last few months. Post the merger between the rivals LIV Golf, DP World Tour, and PGA Tour was announced. This blindsided players and fans alike. Several Pro Golfers took to social media to announce their displease about this merger. However, Tiger Woods was missing from the names of all the athletes who showed their displease with the decision. But that changed last week when the veteran broke his silence.
In a bold statement, Woods shared his opinion. Quoting Woods, “I am honored to represent the players of the PGA TOUR. This is a critical point for the TOUR, and the players will do their best to make certain that any changes that are made in TOUR operations are in the best interest of all TOUR stakeholders, including fans, sponsors and players.” Post this announcement, Woods has been appointed as the sixth member of the PGA Tour Policy Board.
Even though the inclusion of Woods in the PGA Tour Policy Board raised mixed opinions, however, Rory Mcllroy shared his opinion about the appointment in a candid interview with the media saying, “great addition.” In fact, he also went on to say that Woods is a player with the ‘biggest legacy.’ Therefore, the Irishman is sure that Woods would bring positive insights during the decision-making process.
Rory also shared that post this appointment, Woods now has a vote in everything that happens on the PGA Tour. Before the appointment, Woods had some influence over the board but no actual voting rights. But it changed after this monumental appointment. The four-time major champion believes that Woods is a person who would bring positive changes for the players and take the tour to newer heights. Keep following our page for more such content.
