In the middleweight landscape dominated by Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez, fighters David Benavidez and Demetrius Andrade are set to fight each other on November 25th. The match is all set to take place in the Michelob Ultra Arena located in the sin city of Las Vegas. This high-stakes fight will be broadcast on Showtime in a pay-per-view format.
The sole purpose of this fight is to find the right contender for the current champion Canelo Alvarez. Sources believe that Andrade is ready for the fight and is in great shape at the moment. He believes that he will easily triumph over David Benavidez.
Eyeing For the Title.
Andrade has already proven his dominance over Demond Nicholson and made a name for himself. However, if Andrade fights and wins against Benavidez, it will catapult Andrade’s fighting career to the next level. But his primary goal is to fight the top dog, Canelo Alvarez. Andrade said, “Of course, I’m gonna do what’s best and that’s put the cherry on the cake and that’s Canelo but if Canelo don’t wanna tango, he has all the right not to.”
Andrade is thinking from a careerist side of things and believes that if enough people push the fight between him and Alvarez, the fight might, manifest into reality. Therefore the question looms, ‘When will it happen?’
According to WBC president Mauricio Sulaimán, we need to wait for the David Benavidez vs Demetrius Andrade on Novem 25th and then push for the Alvarez vs Andrade fight. According to Sulaimán, “Let’s wait for the outcome of November 25, avoiding any eventualities, cuts, injuries, whatever it may be, but if he maintains his status as the official contender, he’s definitely the official challenger.”
