The death of a former legend saddens the NFL world. The former six times Pro Bowler cornerback, who played for the Los Angeles Rams, took his final breath this Monday at the age of 26.
Eddie Meador was one of the most distinguished players of his time. In fact, the people who knew him said that he lived and breathed football.
Eddie Meador was an ATU alumni, he was drafted back in the ’60s in round 7. After that, he played a total of 12 seasons with the fearsome Foresome.
And in those 12 seasons, Eddie built himself a Hall-Of-Fame worthy resume along with a huge fanfare. This was the influence Eddie had on football during his time.
According to Meador’s former teammate, Roman Gabriel, the former was suffering from debilitating health issues for a while now.
In fact, the situation worsened in the past few months. After his teammate’s death, Roman took to social media to express his condolences.
End Of An Era
Even though Meador retired approximately half a century back from football, Meador still holds 46 interceptions, which is still unbroken by any other Rams athlete.
Apart from this, he also managed to recover approximately 18 defensive fumbles and block 10 kicks. This is a career that is worthy of induction into the Hall Of Fame.
His son, Dave Meador, reported to the media that Eddie died surrounded by his families and friends who cherished and loved his presence in their lives.
Roman Gabriel took to social media to share his adoration of his former teammate by sharing a heartfelt message that said, “Just a great teammate and genuine person.
Mouse was the glue that held our defense together, Hall of Famer, and should be in HOF.” This shows that Eddie’s influence moved beyond the boundaries of the football field and into the lives that surrounded him.
