After winning just 4 games out of the 17 played, Indianapolis Colts is hoping to bring something new to the mix for the upcoming season. The underwhelming campaign of the former SB XLI winners has made the fans concerned about the team’s future. Therefore, after a barely memorable post-season, the team officials made use of the off-season and drafted Anthony Richardson as their fourth overall pick for the 2023 draft.
In light of the recent performance of their quarterbacks from last season, where their five quarterbacks managed to secure 18 touchdowns. As a result, they brought in Gardner Minshew as an insurance policy. However, a new wave of news suggests that the team is yet to choose their starting quarterback for the upcoming season.

However, all of these things changed after a disappointing preseason defeat. Following a match between the Colts and Bills, which the former lost, the Colts saw an opportunity to release the name of their opening quarterback. Colts have announced that Anthony Richardson will be the starting quarterback for the upcoming 2023 season.
The NFL social media handle later confirmed this news, as they wrote, “Colts name Anthony Richardson starting QB for regular season.” This, however, raked up a mixed reaction from fans and sports critics alike. Even though the team acquired Minshew, a dedicated quarterback, Steichen still named Anthony Richardson as the starting Quarterback. Some fans are looking forward to this revamping. Others claim that Steichen is desperate to produce results.
In fact, sources also suggest that the announcement did not sit well with Minshew initially, as the man signed a 1-year contract with the team. Still, if you refer to the athlete’s media presence, Minshew seems to be handling it well for the public. In fact, he has been quite vocal about his acceptance and has supported Steichen throughout.
