Following a ‘controversial’ win against Maxi Hughes, George ‘Ferocious’ Kambosos Jr. took to social media to talk about his “close gritty victory against a top 10 lightweight and IBO World Champion”.
Kambosos took to Twitter and discussed how he won the match fairly and squarely and that fans need to accept the outcome.
Kambosos has been absent from the world of boxing for 9 months in the midst of fight cancellations.
A time that was used by him in order to continue training and improve himself on all fronts. And now, when he finally got a taste of victory, he is not letting it go.
According to the judges, the scores after the fight were 114-114, 117-111, 115-113. While fans mostly agreed with all the scores, the 117-111 scorecard was downright preposterous, according to some fans.
As a result, boxing fans took to social media in order to express their discontentment.
Kambosos’ Perspective:
However, the current IBO lightweight title holder was not okay with this outrage and penned his own perspective. Kambosos said, “Do yourself a favor and mute that biased commentary & rewatch the fight! And then tell me exactly what you think as many people have gone back, done that and seen the decision was fair and correct”. Additionally, he also sided with fans and said that the 117-111 was a far-fetched scorecard and that the “8/4, 7/5 decision our way was right.“
Kambosos ended his post by saying that he is looking forward to bettering himself in his craft and that he is grateful for all the love and support he got from his fans.
Kambosos Jr. also said that Hughes has his utmost respect. And that he is a “true top 10 lightweight” and a “dangerous” fighter to fight. Therefore, it was a victory that did not come to Kambosos easily.
