Things are not looking pretty for the running backs. After major injuries faced by J.K. Dobbins, Nick Chubb, Saquon Barkley, and Aaron Rodgers, several fans are questioning how NFL executives are handling the athletes of their league.
The loudest voice amongst all the voices against the executives includes former NFL Rookie Of The Year, Robert Griffin III.
Robert recently took to social media to lambast the officials for their treatment of players and, specifically, the running backs of the league. Griffin’s tweet caught the attention of many NFL fans and officials.
Not only that, but the conversation also sparked another long-debated topic. Are running backs undervalued and underpaid? A conversation the officials were trying to dodge for a while now.
Call For A Change:
In a scathing tweet, Robert Griffin III wrote, “NFL RBs need to have another zoom meeting and figure out a way to make sure what has happened to Saquon Barkely and Nick Chubb doesn’t happen again. Under-paying top level running backs because they have a higher injury chance and then overusing them is BONKERS.”
This divided the NFL community, and fans agreed that the NFL is treating its assets in the worst ways possible by overworking them and reducing them to the position of carnival attractions.
Well, this is not the first time the NFL has come under fire by athletes for underpaying and ill-treating their assets. Legendary defensive back Deion Sanders has also been very public about his feelings. He spoke about how defensive backs were not paid enough at the time.
As a result, Sanders had to create an aura surrounding defensive backs in order to gain more recognition and bigger paychecks. So, it feels like history is repeating itself once again.
