The 15 man squad of team India for the T20 World Cup is all set. It has a good combination of young and experienced players to add a new edge in the team dynamics. But, the inclusion of MS Dhoni is the biggest surprise of all, and it sure has generated a kick-ass excitement in the Kohli-led team.
Captain Cool’s Return
The upcoming T20 World Cup held in UAE will also bring forth MS Dhoni as the mentor of the Indian team. The honorary secretary of BCCI, Jay Shah, confirmed this news.

We last saw Dhoni playing in the 2019 50-over World Cup in the United Kingdom. In that match, the Indian team could not make it past the semi-finals and were beaten by the New Zealand team. Even the former Indian captain also announced his retirement last year from all kinds of international cricket tournaments.
But, Dhoni continues to play in the Indian Premier League, where he is the captain of Chennai Super Kings. We will see him leading the team in IPL 2021, which will start in UAE from 19th September.
The World Cup Sneak Peek
In the first group league encounter of the ICC T20 World Cup, India will encounter Pakistan, and the match will commence on 24th October. The Dubai International Cricket Stadium will also experience more amazing performances from the men in blue because they will face New Zealand and Afghanistan.
So far, we have found that the team includes:
- Virat Kohli
- Rohit Sharma
- KL Rahul
- Suryakumar Yadav
- Rishabh Pant
- Ishan Kishan
- Hardik Pandya
- Ravindra Jadeja
- Rahul Chahar
- Ravichandran Ashwin
- Axar Patel
- Varun Chakravarthy
- Jasprit Bumrah
- Bhuvneshwar Kumar
- Mohd Shami
The BCCI selection committee has also made some noticeable omissions from the squad. The most prominent names among them are T Natarajan, Shikhar Dhawan, Yuzvendra Chahal, etc. We were surprised to see Ravichandran Ashwin, Axar Patel, and Rahul Chahar make it to the team this year.
If MS Dhoni serves as their mentor with this fantastic squad, it will be an excellent addition to the team. Given his overall experience in cricket, the BCCI secretary, Jay Shah, thinks it will be good to add him as a mentor. They had their conversation in Dubai, and Dhoni agreed. So, we can hope that India will finally be able to win their second T20 World Cup with his tactical acumen.
Final Words
We have got the confirmed news of Captain Cool’s return from Jay Shah in a virtual press conference. He believes that Dhoni will guide the Indian team in the right direction that will finally help them to win this ICC title. We hope his beliefs come true, and once again, it will be nice to see Dhoni be a part of the Indian team.
