Fans were eagerly waiting for the epic Connor Benn vs Chris Eubanks, but due to doping allegations for Benn, the October 8th fight got canceled. This left fans disappointed. However, the promoter, Eddie Hearn, believes that the Benn Vs Eubanks Jr. fight will take place during the early months of next year. In fact, the promoter also confirmed that the venue might be the United Kingdom.
Even though things looked optimistic for the fighters and boxing fans, that does not mean that the fight is green completely. The first among the many issues is Benn’s UK boxing license. Due to the alleged doping allegation of Benn, UKAD (United Kingdom Anti-Doping) and BBBofC (British Board of Boxing Control) decided to cancel his license. This can be a huge challenge to sort out, as things take time whenever an organization gets involved.
The second and more personal issue that can prove to be another challenge is the strained relationship between Eubanks Jr. and his dad. Reportedly, Chris and his father have hit a rough patch over the years. In fact, things took such a wild turn that Chris’ father nominated his nephew for the fight instead of Chris.
Connor Benn’s Support
Everyone seems to have an opinion regarding the fight, and so does Connor. According to Connor Benn, the fight is supposed to be a generational fight. And he believes that it should be kept like that. According to Connor, the fight does not have a place for nephews and cousins. In fact, Connor also extended a hand and said, “you know, if Junior’s not willing to to get him involved, then you know he’s he can more more than happy [to] join the team Benn Camp, you know, as an advisory role and more than jump in. I know that’s mad to say, but I want him involved in the fight.”
This has befuddled fans as they are not being able to assess whether it is a gesture to extend support or an attempt to add more fuel to the fire.
