Anybody who follows the NBA will agree when I say that the Philadelphia 76ers are arguably one of the most unstable teams entering the season.
Things are already complicated with James Harden publicly lashing out against the franchise and calling for a swap. This is why Harden deliberately opted to miss out on several practice sessions.
But just when things started settling down, there was another problem. Harden showed signs of complacency and willingness to join his team, but the situation received another curveball. The management held Harden back, and this started a whole drama.
Amidst all these happenings, the Knicks started showing a keen interest in roping in Joel Embiid. This opened another can of worms. In fact, sports analysts believe that this swap can even change the very course of how the two teams might fare in the future.
Fans have already seen the 76ers stumble on their first game against the Milwaukee Bucks. A team without Harden already faced a little too much against Damian Lillard and his boys. And now, if the Knicks do pull through with the swap, the 76ers will again lose another integral pillar of the team.
Swap & The Stance
Just a few days back, Keith Pompey of the Inquirer broke the news that the Knicks supposedly tried roping in Joel Embiid. However, according to Pompey’s report, it was not just Embiid that Knicks had their eyes on.
According to the supposed rumor, Leon Rose, president of the Knicks, had put Embiid as the priority player for exchange. In fact, Rose was also willing to let go of three players who are key to the Knicks winning in exchange for Embiid.
Even though the luring package seemed absolutely delicious, according to Pompey’s report, the Knicks stayed unmoved. Also, Embiid’s loyalty towards his team has not changed. As a result, the deal did not pull through.
