Not many people have achieved the heights of success that Arnold Schwarzenegger achieved. During the peak of his career, his physique became what came to be known as the epitome of the ‘perfect’ male body form.
But this was not something that was handed to him. In fact, in order to build his massive physique, he trained for at least five hours a day. This hard work definitely paid off, as he won seven Mr.Olympia and then went on to become a movie star.
But nothing lasts forever. And this is a reality Arnie is facing right now. After being one of the biggest Hollywood stars at one time and winning Mr. Olympia seven times, Arnie is fighting his toughest and most definitely a losing battle.
Arnold’s Struggle With His Aging Body:
In a recent appearance on the Howard Stern Show, Arnie opened up that it is tough for him to see his body aging.
Arnie has always been a gym rat. Ever since the Governator came across Reg Park’s beast of a physique in a bodybuilding magazine, there was no going back. Arnie started bodybuilding when he was a teen.
He followed strict discipline and did everything in his power to become the next big thing in the bodybuilding community. And history will have it; he is one of the greatest bodybuilders in the world.
In a candid interview with Howard Stearns, Stearns asked Arnie about his way of dealing with old age.
Arnie went all candid and answered, “Just before I turned 50, I had heart surgery. That’s when, I kind of afterward, kind of came out of it, and I said, you’re now damaged goods. This is the first time where I felt kind of like vulnerable.” The bodybuilder further added, “And all of a sudden there was dialogue like that life is not anymore the same as when it was, like 30 years old or 40 years old, where you could do anything and you never had to think about anything.”
Therefore, this conversation beautifully captures how old age is not just a physical condition. It is something that also affects the mind of an individual.
