Earlier this year, Boxing fans came across a great piece of news. Back in April 2023, Eddie Hearn released the news of Saudi Arabia’s willingness to host a boxing event featuring some of the best fighters.
The names that were rumored to join the fray were Anthony Joshua, Deontay Wilder, Tyson Fury, and Oleksandr Usyk.
Business analysts have said that the fight is supposed to generate close to 400 million USD worth of revenue. A huge amount of money.
Meanwhile, Fury and Usyk are on board and even signed the deal. Joshua and Wilder’s involvement still seems a little mysterious. But Eddie Hearn seems confident that the fight can take place.
Joshua vs Wilder. Is It Happening?
Although not confirmed, Hearn has speculated that the Joshua vs Wilder fight might take place in December. But, unlike what we heard before, this fight might take place in Vegas or Wembley and not Saudi Arabia.
Hearn’s official statement regarding the fight is as follows, “Yeah, it could go in December. But, that fight, in my opinion, will 100% happen in the first half of next year, maybe even in the first quarter.”
Hearn further added that he had a conversation with Shelly Finkel, Hearn said, “I’m talking to Shelly Finkel and we’ve made it crystal clear as they have to us. We want this fight. We’re talking about Vegas, we’re talking about Wembley. The money might not completely be the same as what we’ve been offered by Saudi Arabia. But both guys genuinely want the fight.”
With the sound of things, the situation seems a little rocky, but if both the fighters are willing to face off against each other, then there is a possibility that the fight will happen for sure.
But money also plays a major factor, so there is a 50/50 chance that the fight might happen. Keep following our page for more sports-related content.
