Tyson was the baddest one to be in the ring. Tyson started his career at the age of 18 with only his coach, Cus D’Amato, by his side. From there, the young fighter went on to win 27 fights at a stretch. A feat that is still hard to replicate. By the time Tyson faced Trevor Berbick, the former was already a raging name in the boxing community.
While facing Berbick in an effort to win the title of the heavyweight championship, Tyson was just 20 years old with a 27-0-0 fight stat, and Berbick was 32 years old with a 31-4-1 fight stat. From the get-go, the match roused a huge row of differences in opinion amongst the boxing fans. But those differences in opinions were soon allayed.
It was the second round of the iconic match when the ‘Kid Dynamite’ dropped his opponent Berbick with a left hook. With this victory, Mike Tyson went on to become the youngest heavyweight champion at just 20 years old. Even now, 36 years after the fight, Mike Tyson Still holds the record to become the youngest Heavyweight champion.
Cut to 1987, Tyson became the undisputed champion of the ring when he fought some of the toughest opponents like Smith, Thomas, and Tucker. But even after winning so many accolades and making millions in the process, Tyson’s children share zero interest in his fighting career. In fact, in a recent podcast, Tyson mentioned that his children do not share his enthusiasm for boxing. In a brutally candid statement, Mike Tyson said, “I wanted my kids to look at it… they stopped looking, they don’t want to see that sh*t no more”.
While the host assured the former champ that one day, they might. The boxer still seemed disappointed by the fact that his children did not care about their father’s boxing career. Keep following our page for more sports-related content.
