1997’s Game 5 of the NBA finals will always be iconic for all basketball fans. For everyone who remembers the game, it was Michael Jordan at his best, even though he was down with sickness.
As a result, the game came became famous as the flu game in the basketball community. And now, even after 26 years of that superhuman feat, the topic is still alive.
After nearly three decades of the most iconic moment of Jordan’s career, the game is still etched in people’s minds.
While some absolutely applaud the legendary Bull for the phenomenal performance, some believe that they need to ‘debunk’ the game. In a similar journey, Richard Jefferson and Channing Frye reveal what they think about the game.
Flu, Food Poisoning Or Hungover Jordan?
In a recent video by Road Trippin, an Apple Podcast exclusive, host Allie Clifton, along with Richard Jefferson and Channing Frye, was debunking some of the conspiracy theories regarding the NBA, and they stumbled upon the iconic flu game.
According to the trio, Jordan was not actually under the weather or down with flu. In fact, they believe that he was merely hungover.
As soon as Allie brought it up, both Richard and Channing agreed. Frye then went on to discuss how there was a mixup of information. Before the match began, publicists claimed that Jordan had food poisoning from eating a bad pizza.
However, the narrative was shifted to flu.
Furthermore, the initial information regarding the food poisoning was that Jordan was the only one to take a bite out of the pizza in a room full of people.
Meanwhile, nobody else did so. This raises some eyebrows. Whatever the case, flu, food poisoning, or hangover, Jordan did put his best foot forward and absolutely dominated his opponents. And that is a bigger ‘fact’ than the conspiracy theories.
