In a shocking turn of events, a 20-year-old Danish tennis sensation collapsed on the court during the Guangzhou Open. Clara Tauson is one of the youngest tennis prodigies of our time who is capable of reaching great heights of success.
However, things took a dark turn when she fell during the second round of her clash against Yulia Putintseva.
The Collapse:
There is no official statement as of yet, but the young tennis prodigy, who currently holds the overall 76th ranking worldwide, collapsed due to excessive heat.
During the second round, the crowd was in shock to see Clara collapse to the ground. Luckily, there was an emergency unit that helped the young player from deteriorating further.
The match stopped immediately. And everyone present seemed absolutely concerned for the young player.
According to an X user, the incident took place in the following manner, “Clara Tauson collapsed at the beginning of the 3rd set possibly due to excessive heat, she had to retire & was wheeled off the court…she’s been struggling a lot physically lately, def needs some sort of a break to sort things out.”
This wasn’t the first time for Clara. There have been instances in the past where the tennis sensation suffered from injuries.
First, for playing five matches in a span of just 6 days. Secondly, after the Wimbledon championship.
These have left the young player tied to the hospital bed for a good part of this season. And now, Clara is facing a minor heat stroke. Maybe it is time for Clara Tauson to take some time off and work on her health so that she can come back in a stronger form.
