Being the president of the world’s biggest fighting organization comes with its perks. But it is a crown of thorns that the individual in question has to be mindful of.
Many times, Dana White has been under fire from fighters and fans. In the recent row of fires, UFC is facing an anti-trust lawsuit that has been put in motion by fighters. However, it comes with a new row of twists.
In a recent turn of events, bantamweight fighter Merab Dvalishvili lodged an anti-trust lawsuit against the UFC.
According to the current #2, he has been under constant and frequent fire by Dana White for his friendship with the Bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling.
Sources suggest that the duo share an amazing relationship and even decided not to fight each other. As a result, they had to Dana White’s wrath.
In a recent tweet, the Georgian fighter pulled no punches as he expressed his anger and resentment towards UFC president Dana White.
The post read, “Every UFC win since my 1st in 2018 I called out @SugaSeanMMA @ufc and Sean ignored my call outs. I say I don’t want to fight my teammate and brother @funkmasterMMA and the media goes crazy! If there is no immediate rematch I am Number 1 for this Title match. There should be NO question.”
The Aftermath
The post not only lambasted UFC and its shoddy way of dealing with Merab Dvalishvili’s request but also the media’s attitude towards the same. However, White was not going to stay quiet and brought his own perspective into the mix.
In a recent story post, the president of UFC threw shade at the duo and drew a parallel with Rose Namajunas.
Namajunas faced the same predicament but decided to go along with the fight, unlike the duo, who strongly maintained their stance. Only time will tell whether friendship prevails over money or not.
