Basketball, like every other game, sees player develop their respective niches. Some go down as the greatest walls, while some become the best shooters.
However, one category that is rarely appreciated as much as it should be is the skill of rebounding. Still, there are players who took on the role and greatly excelled at it.
Some of the players who come to any NBA fan’s mind when they discuss rebounding are Dennis Rodman and Wilt Chamberlain.
But not everybody is of the same opinion. An ex-teammate of LeBron James believes that he is the best rebounder when compared to the former two.
When we shift our focus to the early 2010s, we can not ignore Andre Drummond. Drummond led his teams four times while rebounding.
During that time, he proved not only that he was a good leader but also that he was somebody who could bring in numbers when it came to scoring.
The Rebounding Underdog
In a recent interview, we could see Andre Drummond talk about his contribution to his team and the game while rebounding.
Drummond did not mince his words when he said, “Respective like I just said. I used to play 40+ minutes, I was a star, an All-Star, All-NBA. I’ve done it. Hall of Fame candidate. Best rebounder ever.” That is what knowing your worth seems like.
When the host tried to veer the conversation towards other players, Drummond cut him off and continued, “I’m the best ever. What you mean?”
In fact, the center continued bringing his rebounding prowess into the conversation and maintained that he should be inducted into the Hall of Fame alongside some of the greats of the game,
When the Detroit Pistons picked Andre Drummond, he was expected to be a substantial defensive addition. However, he exceeded his expectations with flying colors and became one of the greats of his time, and now he wants recognition for it.
