In the Men’s 65 Kg Freestyle wrestling, Bajrang Punia wins the match against Iranian wrestler Morteza Ghiasi. Now, he will fight face to face with Haji Aliyev. This Azerbaijan Wrestler will be no joke because he is the Rio Olympic Bronze medalist and three-time world champion. Bajrang Punia is already gaining much popularity worldwide due to his fantastic performance. But, Haji Aliyev is also considered a hero back in Azerbaijan. So, it looks like the match is going to be tough for both the wrestlers.
In the first round of the match before this one, Punia barely won. The score was 3-3 for both Punia and his opponent Emazar Akmataliev from Krygyzstan. But, it looks like Punia’s luck favored him that day because he won the match because of better point-scoring moves.
In the quarter-finals again, Punia was in front of a tough competitor. The 2019 World Cup silver medalist, Ghiasi, won the first round easily. So, it was a tense situation for all Indians. But, Punia recovers from the stuttering beginning fast, and he also did a pretty good defense. It was a jaw-dropping performance for the Indian wrestler because he did not lose his calm and prevented each of Ghiasi’s attacks.
It looks like Punia’s knee niggle moves are going to be much appreciated in the semi-finale competition too. So, we wish him all the luck.
There is exciting news brewing in the women’s Hockey standard room also. Indian women’s hockey team lost severely against the might Great Britan team. The Oi Hockey Stadium saw how Rani Rampal’s Indian team fought bravely with the British, but it did not positively. The Tokyo Olympic 2020 Bronze medalist is indeed no joke. They had secured medals in 3 Olympics consecutively, and now they also hold on to their claim of the Bronze medal.
Within 2 minutes of the game, the British team managed to get their first penalty corner. But, the beautiful strike of Giselle Ansley was prevented by the Indian Goalkeeper, Punia. Though the Indians did not start the match on a great note, they showed some impressive attacks throughout the game.
The final scoresheet was 3-4. Indian women fought hard to neutralize the scores, but alas! It was not equalized in the end, and the British Hockey players won. The British defender Grace Balsdon transformed the penalty corner to a goal. It was solely her credit. She managed to drag flick the puck from in between the legs of Indian goalkeeper Savita Punia and scored the last goal.

This goal was scored just before 15 minutes of the match’s end. Until then, the score was equal for both the Indians and the British players. The final goal from Grace Balsdon changed the scoresheet from 3-3 to 3-4, and there it was. The match’s fate changed instantly because Indians could not even grab the puck from the British to settle the score.
