Before there was Sha’Carri Richardson, there was Elaine Thompson-Herah. Elaine is the reigning champion of the Olympic 100m. But ever since Richardson walked on that track, she knocked all the competition out of the park.
With her sheer dedication and perseverance, Sha’Carri Richardson came out on top every time and made every American proud. Richardson is the current reigning champion of 100 m at the Women’s World Championship, a feat achieved in Budapest with a time of 10.65 seconds.
However, this does not mean that Elaine Thompson is not catching up with our beloved Sha’Carri Richardson. Thompson just gave her best performance at the Bellinzona.
Running at the Gala dei Castelli in Switzerland, the Jamaican track star completed a race with a perfect 10.92 seconds. This was the first time an Olympian managed to finish the race in under 11 seconds.
Post the match, the Olympian told the reporters that, “I am happy with my win as I set my season’s best in Zurich last week, and I improved it again. I want to continue this season and run more races.”
Lightning Fast
With an incredible timing of 10.92 seconds, Elaine defeated Britain’s Imani Lansiquot, who clocked in at 10.99. And the third place was secured by Gambia’s Gina Bass, who clocked in at 11.12 seconds.
Fans are happy for both women but are equally eager to see the two champions duke it out. Also, this could be one of the biggest track events that could happen if it ever manifests into reality.
With the Jamaican track and field superstar slowly coming out of her slump, it is the best time for her to challenge herself in order to understand where she stands when compared to other athletes.
