Dirt Bike Racing, Moto GP, Drag Racers, F1, and NASCAR are like sides of the same dice. Several racers, after making their mark in one of the sectors, choose to transition to another and vice versa.
This is a very common phenomenon in the motorsport world. But, when it comes to NASCAR drivers making a switch to more unfamiliar terrain, the statistics seem low.
But all that is all set to change. An accomplished NASCAR driver is taking a curious step that seems like a road less traveled. This might prove to be a breath of fresh air for the notable NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series veteran Hailie Deegan.
With Deegan’s biggest rival now shifting his sights to something new and equally exciting, things sure do seem good.
However, the driver in question is not really exiting the NASCAR. In fact, he is just looking for a change of pace and, therefore, has decided to try out a whole new sport for a change.
The Major Shift
The driver in question, Dean Thompson, took to his X account to share a piece of surprising news.
The NASCAR driver shared a picture of himself wearing a pair of boxing mitts along with a caption that reads, “I’m also pumped to share with y’all that I’ll be competing in my first kickboxing match in December! Kickboxing / MMA has been a passion of mine and as y’all know I’ve been training for a while now so I’m really excited to embark on this challenge. Thank you to Cliff at Kinchen Martial Arts Academy and everyone at TPC for helping me get prepped!”
This quickly accredited the driver with a whole new row of mixed reactions from the fans. While some were ecstatic to see this happy change of pacing. Others were busy painting out or, rather, calling out Thompson for his skirmishes with other drivers.
But regardless, this is something that the sporting world has never seen before. Maybe this is why the UFC, as well as NASCAR enthusiasts, are waiting to see how this unfolds.
