Thus, the former son of an old farmer in Khandar village near Panipat is today’s international stThus, all the Indians waiting for 100 years to earn gold in track and field are finally happy today.
When Abhinav Bindra won gold for India in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, the country was indeed proud of him. However, in the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, Chopra becomes the first individual to earn gold and the 7the individual to earn a medal. He has already got prize money of 6 Crores from the Haryana Government.

He thanks all of his fans and supporters for their love from India and beyond to help him reach the stage. He dedicates his victory to PT Usha and Milkha Singh.
He believes that their dreams have also been fulfilled somehow as Neeraj wins the gold for his country.
Milkha Singh passed away this year, but it was the dream of this runner to see someone from India win gold at track and fields. Even PT Usha also came close to win it but missed it by a whisker.
India has won 7 medals so far in the Tokyo Olympics. Among them, Chopra’s performance deserves the most applause because he, in a way, fulfills the dream of a lot of Indians.
When Vetter Johannes went out of the competition after his 3rd throw of 82.52 meters, Indians indeed heaved a sigh of relief. Johannes had the season’s best score of 96.29 meters, but alas! In the finals of the Olympics, he managed to secure the 9th rank.
Although Neeraj could not better his score at the 3rd round, his 2nd round score was enough to bestow the gold medal on his shoulder.
Abhinav Bindra congratulated the Javelin star on Twitter. He says that Chopra’s gold is a much-needed addition to India’s sports history and that his victory will continue to inspire many youngsters.
Even the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi twitted, ‘History has been scripted at Tokyo!’. And, we cannot agree more with this comment because, indeed, it is a historical landmark for the country.
