The 2023 Diamond League reached its climax in Eugene after traveling across the world in some of the most iconic cities. Some of the most prominent locations included Rabat, Florence, Paris, Oslo, Lausanne, Stockholm, Chorzów, Fontvieille, London, Zürich, Xiamen, and Brussels.
The Finale
The league was full of incredible track and field talents from across the globe. However, out of all of these athletes, one individual shone the brightest.
On the first day of the event, Jakob Ingebrigtsen shone brightest amongst his peers. The Norwegian successfully beat Yared Nuguse on the Bowerman Mile.
Not only did Jakob demonstrate exceptional skills on the track, but he also managed to break a 24-year-old record that Hicham El Guerrouj set.
Cut to day 2 of the event, Jakob managed to stay in the spotlight once again by clinching double gold.
In a recent interview given by the athlete to a sports daily. The track and field star was seen saying, “After a couple of laps, I didn’t feel extremely good. I could’ve been easier on myself and probably just lay it back and try to win, but that’s not my way of racing.”
This shows the young athlete’s conviction in his game and how he is willing to go the mile to win.
By the time it was day 2, Jako had already established his dominance in the league. The Norwegian was seen in a neck-to-neck battle for supremacy against his competitors.
But eventually, the young athlete managed to secure a win with a remarkable time of 7:23.63.
This was remarkable as it not only added another win to Jakob’s kitty but also broke the Diamond League’s record of 7:35.44 from 2005.
