IPL 2021: The Indian Premier League of 2021 has been suspended due to a string of Covid-19 positive results over on Monday and Tuesday. The decision ends a month-long relatively smooth run for cricket’s most exciting event.
After seven players have been tested positive, the BCCI has definitely postponed the IPL for now. Previously, the match of 3rd May between RCB and KKR was postponed after two players of KKR were tested Covid-19 positive.
This announcement came after Sunrisers Hyderabad’s wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha tested positive for Covid-19 along with Amit Mishra.
The BCCI stated that: “The Indian Premier League Governing Council (IPL GC) and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in an emergency meeting have unanimously decided to postpone IPL 2021 season, with immediate effect. The BCCI does not want to compromise on the safety of the players, support staff, and the other participants involved in organizing the IPL. This decision was taken keeping the safety, health, and wellbeing of all the stakeholders in mind.”

This tournament began on April 9 and ran smoothly for 29 matches. According to IPL Governing Council Members, the decision was taken after Wriddhiman Saha and Amit Mishra tested positive on Tuesday.
