In a recent video uploaded by NASCAR on their official page, fans saw Kyle Petty providing his insight on the season’s first playoff that happened at Darlington. Fans who followed the race said that it was the culmination of driver going all out against each other to prove their dominance.
The highlight of the video was when Petty took a jibe at Michael McDowell and his performance at the event.
McDowell’s performance at the race was not up to the mark, which left fans and officials concerned. In fact, Petty even said, “I don’t think they’ll recover from that,” Which left fans of NASCAR scratching their head.
The Last Lap?
Michael McDowell has not had an easy road to the playoffs. Sources suggested that McDowell had to face a lot of resistance in order to secure a spot at the race.
Although he managed to enthrall fans with his racing at Indianapolis, Petty thinks that things would feel like an uphill fight for the 38-year-old racer.
In the same breath, Petty also applauded Kyle Larson for his racing capabilities. Petty thinks that Larson brought his best self forward in order to secure a spot.
Petty was heard saying, “Right up next to the wall, a couple inches away, beating and banging off the wall, but never really slowing down. That’s that sprint car, that’s that midget type racing that those guys grew up on. Great to see what those guys could do and Kyle Larson checks the Southern 500 off his list.”
