You like him or hate him, but Giannis Antetokounmpo is one of the most wholesome NBA superstars out there. Even after all the accolades he earned and the records he broke, Giannis still believes that there is a lot more that he needs to achieve.
This humility is something that can also be seen in a recent interview where the Greek Freak was heard talking. And that, too, about his wish to learn more under a former NBA star.
This, however, did not sit well with a former Washington Wizards star who took to social media to express his frustration.
Ever since his debut in 2013, Giannis has come a long way, The skills of this NBA superstar are unparalleled. Over the years, Giannis has managed to captivate fans with his mesmerizing basketball skills.
But now, Giannis believes that he needs to up his game further. Therefore, he is opting for a training camp with Houston Rockets’ Hakeem Olajuwon.
Arenas V/S Olajuwon
While the thought behind Giannis’ decision might be right, it certainly did not sit well with sports analyst and former player Gilbert Arenas. Arenas absolutely lambasted Hakeem in his recent video titled ‘Greak Save Ur Money”.
In the video, we saw Arenas criticizing Hakeem’s on-court moves, saying that they were popular in the 90s. Moreover, he also blasted Hakeem on the fact that he charges around $50,000 per session.
In a scathing commentary, Arenas said, “You should be ashamed of yourself, charging these young whipper snappers 50.”
But Giannis seemed to be unbothered by Arenas’ perspective on Hakeem. In fact, when Giannis was asked about Hakeem, the former replied, “I love his game, and if I can kind of take a few things from his game or learn anything from the few days I’m going to spend with him, it’s going to be a blessing.”
In fact, if you look at the history of the NBA, you will notice not only Giannis but also other stars like Kobe and LeBron. These stars also took time off from the game to improve their skill sets.
