Middleweight champion Sean Strickland will be defending his title for the very first time. And he will be defending it against Dricus Du Plessis. Now, it is not even a secret the kind of bad blood these two fighters have in between them. But things have escalated to a whole other level, and none of the fighters seem to be taking a step back.
In fact, the altercation is speculated to go even harder. Currently, the fighters are all set to butt heads at the UFC 297. However, it seems like the fighters cannot wait for that. Du Plessis and Strickland have been at each other’s throats ever since the duo met at the UFC press conference.
During the press conference, Du Plessis made some snide comments about Strickland’s troubled childhood. This left fans shocked and Strickland emotional. This was a surprising turn of events that left everyone shocked, even Du Plessis.
Du Plessis Cuts Sharp With His Words
At the conference, Sean Strickland started throwing shade at Du Plessis by bringing up the controversial relationship he has with his coach. As a result, Du Plessis brought up Sean’s problematic relationship with his father and an abusive childhood. To everyone’s surprise, this triggered Sean in a way that nobody ever expected.
In a conversation with his coach, Du Plessis revealed, “[Sean Strickland] Looks Like a Guy that he’s not gonna be easy to freak because he dishes it out…The first thing I said [did it], and that was only the beginning. I thought, ‘Oh, he’s acting,’ and then I saw like, ‘I really got him. Okay. I did all this homework, and I did all this preparation for this, and now the first thing I say [got him].” He further added that he still respects Sean and hopes to face him soon in UFC 297.
