BCCI has been on the news lately for all the wrong reasons. After the rescheduling match left and right, it has gained some notoriety amongst the cricketing community. Recently, broadcasters Adam Collins and Geoff Lemon threw some very direct punches toward the Board of Control for Cricket in India or BCCI. The cause of this flak was the rescheduling of the ICC World Cup 2023.
A few days back International Cricket Council (ICC) released the fixtures for the World Cup in an extravagant event held in St. Regis, Mumbai. However, the day after the announcement, the BCCI board secretary released a statement announcing that changes needed to be made to the World Cup schedule. As a result, it created a situation of uncertainty for the fans and officials of this international sporting event.
Therefore, this decision irked a lot of fans and cricket followers, like Geoff Lemon and Adam Collins. When Collins said, “ There’s too many logistical hurdles you’re making us jump through here. You’ve got to give us more time for travel and so on’. So they are considering that,” Lemon pitched in and agreed with whatever Collins said. Subsequently, Lemon had more to add and he said, “The BCCI I think, must be the most incompetent major sporting body in the world. It’s pretty hard to make the argument otherwise, just on purely the practical grounds that we’re laying here… There is a World Cup in now, what, under three months that still doesn’t have a reliable fixture. You can’t book to go to games because they might change to another city and date entirely…The BCCI, I don’t think they are evil… They’re just really bad at doing stuff.”
That was a mouthful of harsh words. However, given the current state of uncertainty teams have found themselves in, it is quite inevitable that there would be some sort of outcry against the hosting nation for the lackadaisical attitude. Keep following our page to get access to more such news.
