The tricolored flag hoists again as Achinta Sheuli and Jeremy win the third gold for India on the third day of the Commonwealth game. Achinta Sheuli becomes India’s third gold medal winner, lifting 313 kg in 73kg Weightlifting for men at the Birmingham Commonwealth game 2022.
Sanket Sagar started the winning streak for India on 30th July, winning Silver in the 55kg weightlifting category for men. However, that was just the start for India at the Commonwealth 2022. Mirabai Chanu put a power-packed performance on the same day, winning India’s first gold in women’s 49 kg weightlifting.
The starting for India at the 2022 commonwealth Games looks bright. Bidyarani Devi and Sanket Sagar win two silver medals for India in Weightlifting. 21-year-old Sanket Sagar lifts 248 kg in total in clean and jerk ( in men’s 55 kg weightlifting ) and wins a silver medal.
On Sunday, Jeremy Lalrinnunga, a 19-year-old weightlifter, topped the Men’s 67 kg Weightlifting competition at Birmingham. Jeremy lifted 300kg, winning the second gold for India after Mirabai Chanu.
In the women’s 55 kg weightlifting division, Bidyarani Devi successfully lifts 116 kg during her last attempt. As a result, her total weight stood at 202 kg, eventually helping her win Silver for India.
While Sanket Sagar wins a silver, Gururaj Poojay wins bronze for India in Men’s 61 kg weightlifting.
India has won 6 medals until the third day of commonwealth day. The Hokey team of India also defeats Ghana (11-0) in the opening match at the Birmingham commonwealth game 2022.
Indian athletes will compete in lawn balls, weight lifting, Judo, swimming, Squash and Badminton, boxing, cycling, and many other games on the fourth day at Birmingham commonwealth.
