Donny Schatz is one of the key players of Tony Stewart’s racing Team. He is also a full-time contender of the World Outlaws series, piloting the #15 car. Schatz has been one of the biggest names in the NASCAR right now. Recently, Schatz was inducted into the North Dakota Sports Hall Of Fame. But this does not mean that he is ready to throw in the towel just yet.
Schatz has recently issued a statement that has rocked the racing community. He is currently gearing up for his 28th season in the series. He made this revelation in the 35th PRI Trade Show. He also graced the Performance Racing Industry booth, where he discussed some of the biggest moments from his career.
It Was A Good Run
Schatz has always been a gearhead. He started his career in racing at the age of 11. At the age of 15, he shifted to 358 sprint cars at the Red River Valley Speedway. Soon enough, he upped the ante to 410 Spirits. And finally, he entered the World of Outlaws series at the age of 18. Therefore, he has taken a long journey to reach where he is at.
Reflecting on this long journey, Schatz said, “Being able to become one of his world of outlaws and obviously in today’s environment we’re not gonna see young guys don’t get to see that Ted Johnson, but they still get to see his vision and what’s here. That’s why I’m here. I mean, I’ve got 28 years with it. I still obviously times change. It’s grown.”
He further added, “Things have gotten better. It’s been able to bring more people into this, to more fans, more racetracks, and create an awesome product. So, for me, it’s being a part of that and helped growing that. And I can still see Ted’s vision and something. Sometimes I ask myself, what would Ted do?”Therefore, Schatz has undertaken a long journey to get where he is at. And he is not stopping anytime soon.
