Colby Covington is not at all holding himself back against Leon Edwards in the build up match to the UFC 296. In fact, former interim welterweight champ Covington accused his opponent of cheating and took a dig at his intelligence. This can start a whole new row or add a new dynamic to the whole fight. It has been a while since Covington stepped inside a ring. The last time he was seen fighting was in UFC 272 against Jorge Masvidal. He won the match against Masvidal, but he still chose to take a hiatus from fighting.
Covington vs Edwards
Now, Covington is back with all his might, and he is not going to hold himself back. Since the word of the fight leaked, both men were engaged in back-and-forth. Edwards called Covington a clown. He further added that Covington is in for a rude awakening.
In a recent interview with All Out Fighting on YouTube, Covington was asked to share his views on Leon Edwards. In his iconic fashion, Covington elaborated, “As a person, I just think that guy is just a waste of f**king chromosomes and a waste of space… Please, dive into Leon Scott’s IQ. Like what’s his level of education, did he graduate middle school, did he even get through elementary school, because the guy’s dumber than a box of rocks.”
Covington further added that he sees Edwards as one of the biggest cheaters the sport has seen. Covington said, “And as a fighter, Leon Scott is the biggest cheater the sport’s ever known. I thought Marty Usman was the cheater man, this guy makes Marty look like a freaking saint… I mean the guy’s the biggest cheater the sport has ever seen.”
