21-year-old Ben Shelton has been firing on all cylinders. This has captured a lot of people’s attention. One of them is 28-year-old tennis player Nick Krygos. In fact, Krygos has been so impressed with the player’s performance that he believes that Ben can fulfill one of his own dreams. What is Ncik’s dream, and how will Shelton fulfill it?
Shelton is just a powerhouse when it comes to tennis. He has, time and again, proved his mettle on the court. In the Japan Open, Shelton won his career’s first-ever tour-level title. Apart from this, the young player achieved some other titles. This made Krygos optimistic about this lad’s career.
This year, Shelton broke into the top 15. However, he gradually went down two spots and is currently sitting at #17 in men’s singles ranking. His exceptional runs in the Australian Open and US Open have really made this lad one of the top contenders. However, Krygos is thinking way ahead of SFs and QFs.
Two Worlds
Krygos spoke highly of Shelton when he said, “I had a dream last night that Shelton won a slam…. Is 2024 the year? Come to think of it, game is huge, serve is a rocket…. Reminds me of….” Not sure what Krygos is getting at, but the message was clear.
While Shelton broke and set new records, Krygos would like to forget this year. Due to a myriad of injuries, Krygos only managed to play just one ATP-level match in 2023. However, sources suggest that the Australian poster child of tennis is eyeing to make a comeback in 2024 in front of his home crowd But the truth is, he will not be back until 2024 Wimbledon. In fact, Krygos’ name did not even feature in the Brisbane International and Australian Open entry list.
