You might love him or simply hate him. But Alex Pereira is certainly one of the best strikers on the UFC roster. Pereira once competed against the famed Hall Of Fame Candidate Bas Rutten to test who had the most kicking power. And guess who won that match? You guessed it right. Alex Pereira inched past Rutten. However, the man was not able to surpass Joe Rogan’s record on PowerKube.
The Upcoming Fight.
Alex ‘Poatan’ Pereira is currently gearing up for his heavyweight title fight that is supposed to take place at UFC 295. The fight will see Poatan taking on the former champion Jiri Prochazka. The headline event will take place at the Madison Square Garden. Till the fight takes place, let us jog our memory of the friendly match against Bas Rutten almost a year back.
A year back, Poatan and El Guapo were attending Karate Combat 37. An event that tests the prowess of fighters in the art of Karate. However, later on, the organizers invited two of these fighters to test the power of their kicks on the PowerKube device. After getting accustomed to the device, the two fighters started landing some of the most powerful kicks of their career.
PowerKube Master
Bas Rutten managed to kick the machine with a reading of 88,388. But as soon as Poatan kicked the device, the reading showed 90,987. Both martial artists showed their prowess in kicking. But none of them managed to beat the humongous record of Joe Rogan, who set the record of 152,000. Who would have thought that a UFC commentator would have the highest kicking power of most other fighters who are currently fighting? I certainly did not.
