If you have to put a face to the primary reason behind the gigantic success of UFC as a sporting event, then Dana White should be the one. He is popularly known as the man who made the UFC what it is today. In the early days of the tournament, several states banned UFC.
Several fans also call it ‘human cockfighting’ since it promotes the fighting between two individuals in a ring that resembles a cage.
The history behind the sport’s meteoric rise is a diverse and rich one. And Dana White most certainly has earned a place in it. But fans are not happy with his latest endeavors.
Apart from UFC, Dana White is currently also making an effort to make slapfighting a mainstream sport. As a result, he has come up with another venture named ‘PowerSlap.’
Slapping The Sh*t Out
The concept might have seemed great on the paper and the meetings. But have eventually raised some concerns among the combat-sport fandom.
Experts who assessed the ancillary aspects of the sport found out that the sport can definitely put the lives of the athletes at risk, as there is a big scope for head trauma injuries.
While the sport is nothing new, ever since its inception, the sport has not enjoyed the space of being one of the most beloved contact sports out there. Participants are expected to slap each other by taking turns, without any means to defend themselves, and it is not over till one of the contestants gets knocked out.
This makes the sporting world a little uneasy and concerned. However, according to Dana White, “Fighters in boxing take 300 to 400 punches per fight”.
And also claims that this will be a safer sport than boxing or a UFC match. Still, Sports Medical practitioners are not psyched about the result.
