Tennis is a game that is known for a growing talent pool, with new talents coming into the scene and leaving their mark on the game. One such fiery talent is Carlos Alcaraz. At the mere age of 20, Carlos has accomplished so much.
And slowly, people are noticing it. Alcaraz’s match with the tennis enigma Rafael Nadal has left Nadal awestruck by the young man’s talent.
Now, Alcaraz is all set to face another tennis genius, Kei Nishikori. Nishikori has been absent from ATP for approximately 21 months due to his injuries and is now eager to set foot on the court against Alcaraz.
The former No.4 has given an interview to the Eurosport where he applauded Alcaraz’s speed along with his defensive and offensive capabilities.
Nishikori, at the height of his prime, was placed at No. 4 following the trio of Nadal, Federer, and Djokovic. However, due to a crippling leg injury, Nishikori had to take a 21-month-long Hiatus from the court.
But now that he is all set to return, he is looking forward to facing the newer generation. The new tennis prodigies are Carlos Alcaraz, Holger Rune, and Jannik Sinner.
Nishikori Is Ready To See These New Players:
Prior to his match with Carlos Alcaraz, Nishikori applauded the young Spaniard and said that the sport had not seen anybody like Alcaraz in a long time.
Nishikori shared his opinion in the Tennis Letter, saying, “I hope to play these great young players like Alcaraz, Rune, & Sinner. I don’t think we’ve seen anyone like Carlos before. He looks like Rafa but has more speed. Good defense, unbelievable forehand & a good backhand.”
