Joe Burrow is an integral part of Cincinnati Bengal. He was one of the driving forces behind the Bengal’s first Super Bowl title victory.
Therefore, he is one of those players in the camp that the club cannot afford to lose at the moment. Now, with Burrow’s injury, the Bengals could be in a fix.
The seriousness of the injury is yet to be confirmed by the medical practitioners. However, if the doctors do not give Burrows the green signal, then the Cincinnati Bengals could be looking at a tough season.
The Bengals would have to keep scrambling in order to keep their hopes up throughout the season.
Even though Burrows is a huge part of Cincinnati’s roster, there are some other options that Cincinnati can explore if the push comes to shove.
Will Cincinnati Bengals Replace Burrows?
The first option is the Bengal’s backup quarterback, Trevor Siemens. However, things did not go well for Trevor Siemens at the helm, as he was unable to win a single game since 2017.
The next option could be Carson Wentz. Wentz has a commendable record of 11 touchdowns and 9 interceptions and an overall rating of 80.2. Still, he has not yet been picked up by any team and is seen shifting between teams.
Teddy Bridgewater is another good recommendation for the Bengals as a reserve quarterback.
Bridgewater has a rating of 94.9 and has completed 66.9% of passes for 3,052 yards, along with 18 touchdowns. Therefore, Bridgewater seems like the most likely candidate to fill in Burrow’s spot.
When asked about Burrows’ current state of injury, Taylor responded, “He was just scrambling. This is football. Guys go down with an injury. This could be a day thing, who knows. There’s a lot of guys that had soreness today that had their reps cut down a little bit. That’s just part of football in training camp.”
Therefore, as of now, Zac Taylor is keeping a cool head and approaching the situation with a wait-and-see mindset.
