Chelsea taught a hard lesson to the Wrexham AFC in their first friendly match during their first friendly match of the US tour.
Chelsea just obliterated the Reds with a score of 5-0. This did not sit well with the fans or the Wrexham AFC’s co-owner Rob McElhenney.
Rob McElhenney Gives A Friendly Warning to Chelsea:
Rob McElhenney expressed his disappointment on this humiliating loss and even issued a warning to the Chelsea football team.
After the 2nd goal, every goal was just to break the team’s morale. And by the end of the whole match, the score was 5-0. Ian Maatsen scored the first goal at just under 3 minutes into the game.
Ian Maatsen also scored the second goal at about the halfway mark. Connor Gallager scored the third goal. Christopher Nkunku scored the fourth goal, and finally, Ben Chiwell scored the final goal during the extra-time.
The game was held at the Kenan Memorial Stadium in North Carolina. According to sources, around 51,000 tickets were sold for the match.
One of the primary reasons for such a turn-up was that people were waiting to see how Ryan Reynolds’ team would perform. However, Chelsea had other plans for the Reds.
McElhenney needs to have a strategy in order to make the Reds ready to compete in the Premier League. In a tweet after the match, McElhenney wrote, “Thank You, Chelsea!!! Hopefully, we’ll see you again in 5 years or so:)”.
Still, presently, the fans are not at all happy with this humiliating loss and have taken to social media to lambast the team, as well as the actor Ryan Reynolds, who co-owns the Wrexham AFC.
Still, things could turn out to be better for the team if only they put time and effort into their game. However, it is just a matter of time.
