Supreme Court dismisses CoA, and the acting secretary general will monitor AIFF’s actions.
On Monday, Supreme Court dismissed the Committee of Administration (CoA), which had been assigned earlier to take care of the All India Football Federation. As a result, FIFA is now going to lift the suspension for violating FIFA regulations.
Supreme Court Justice DY Chandrachud said, “The day-to-day management of AIFF shall be looked after by the AIFF administration led by the acting secretary general exclusively.”
The AIFF elections were going to happen on August 28. The court strictly said that the representatives would be from the states and union territories.
The court also stated, “as a consequence, the CoA will cease to be in charge of the AIFF.”
Gopal Shankarnarayan, one of the members of CoA, said, “There are findings of siphoning off. An interim audit report of the AIFF has been submitted by Deloitte to the CoA. We have asked for the final report.” The court replies to him by stating that the Government will consider this matter after getting the final report.
On August 15, FIFA said that the suspension would be lifted only after the CoA fully dissolved. FIFA also stated that the CoA would no longer be a part of any decisions from now on. As demanded by FIFA, the Supreme court took action to dissolve the CoA.
Supreme Court said that a new council of AIFF will be created by voting and will have a total of 23 members. There will be six notable players in the 23 members. Of these six members, four of them will be men, and two of them will be women.
