RCB was giving a fantastic performance so far in the IPL 2021 with their red jersey. But, for the KKR match in 2021, they will be showcasing their light-blue jersey. Of course, it is a given that the entire team will look quite charming in this soothing color, but why did they decide to change it all of a sudden?
Well, that’s because during the first phase of IPL 2021, RCB captain Virat Kohli suggested that they will be supporting the frontline workers of the Covid pandemic. Since the PPE kit that the doctors and nurses are wearing is of light-blue color, the team will wear the same-colored jersey to honor them. Even the jerseys will also have ‘My Covid Heroes’ written on the back, so you can imagine how much the team wants to support the pandemic fighters.
But, this is not the first time the Kohli-led team changed their jersey color. They also changed their jersey color from red to green to support the ‘Go Green’ initiative in 2011. Since then, the team has been wearing the green jersey at least once in the entire IPL season.

Virat Kohli did not only decide between supporting the frontline Covid workers by changing his jersey color. He agreed that the RCB franchise would also give a financial contribution to uplift the healthcare infrastructure in Bengaluru and other cities of the nation. His main motive is to improve the condition of Oxygen support in the Bengaluru hospitals.
RCB has also collaborated with the non-profit charity house, ‘Give India Foundation,’ to offer 100 units of Oxygen concentrators in Bengaluru hospitals and also in other cities. The RCB franchise has been active from the start of the pandemic. Their parent company ‘Diageo’ provided ₹75 Crores to support the fast-declining hospitality sector, and they also made over 3 Lakh liters of sanitizers.
What We Think
Kohli has recently joined the RCB back after completing India’s England tour. He is looking forward to this season of IPL and can’t wait to beat the KKR to take one step closer to the final playoffs. They are currently tied on the 3rd spot with the two-timed champion, CSK. Kohli said:
