Just like the 2021 Olympics, Indians will never forget the 2021 Tokyo Paralympics event. These global events have added a new spark to the athletes’ behaviours. The medal winners have touched the double-figure for the first time this year, and we need to meet the individuals of the medal haul.

The Bronze Medalists of India in Tokyo Paralympics
Sharad Kumar has won a Bronze in the high jump with a record score of 1.83 meters in the men’s T42 category. He had permanent paralysis in the left leg when he was only two years old. He was training in Ukraine for two years, but before the pandemic restrictions, he was summoned back to his country by the Indian government.
Singaraj Adhana has also secured a bronze medal in shooting in the men’s 10m Air Pistol SH1 category. He shot a total of 216.8 to secure third place in this event. We must say, as a debut performer, it was indeed a good score.
Sundar Singh Gurjar won the bronze medal in the men’s F46 category of javelin throwing. He won the medal with his best score of 64.01 meters. He also qualified for the Rio Paralympics, but he was disqualified from the event due to late reporting.
Let’s Take A Look At The Long List of Silver Medalists
The maximum number of Indian athletes won the silver medals this year. Bhavinaben Patel won the silver medal in Table Tennis. She lost the match to Chinese player Ying Zhou in the clas four finals and won the silver medal. She competed in the game fearlessly in a wheelchair, and we are indeed proud of the woman.
Nishad Kumar also won the silver medal in the high jump T47 category. He lost the function of his right hand in an accident when he was only 21 years old. However, Kumar nailed the performance with a score of 2.06 meters.
Yogesh Kathuniya won the silver medal in Discus Throwing in the F56 category. He made a score of 44.38 meters, and it was his best score. However, he faced a limb paralysis attack when he was only eight years old.
Devendra Jhajharia also won a silver medal. But he won it in the javelin throw F46 category. His best throw was at a distance of 64.35 meters. He also faced an accident when he was eight years old and lost his left hand.
Finally, Mariyappan Thangavelu won a silver medal in the men’s T42 high jump category. Mariyappan lost his right leg when he was only five years old after a drunk bus driver ran him over. His best score was 1.86 meters, and it was enough to secure a silver medal.
Who Are The Gold Medal Winners In Paralympics 2021?
Avani Lekhara won the gold medal in shooting, and she is also the first Indian woman to win a gold at this event. Her total score was 249.6 meters in the women’s 10 m Air Rifle standing SHI category. She had become paralysed in 2012 after facing a spinal cord injury in a car accident.
Sumit Antil also won a gold medal for the nation in the javelin throw. He scored 68.55 meters in the men’s F46 category, and it was his fifth shot at the event. He was a wrestler before losing his left leg in an accident in 2015.
