However, the goals from Harmanpreet Singh and Hardik Singh that came from the penalty corners made the match nerve-shattering in the end.
It is the third bronze medal for Indian Hockey in the Olympics. The previous two came from the 1968 Mexico City Olympics and also from the 1972 Munich Olympics. However, the finish the Indians did today in the match was worth watching after the 1980 Moscow Olympics.
It is indeed true that the Indian Hockey team in the Olympics made history today by scoring 5-4 against the Germans. But the Germans did put up a good fight, though. The Germans were in the lead from the beginning.
So, when Timur Cruz scored the first goal on behalf of the Germans, Indian fans were nervous. However, Simranjeet Singh gave a jaw-dropping performance soon after and equalized the score.
The second goal of Germany came from Benedict Furk, which was soon equalized by the Hockey Star Hardik Singh. The third goal of the Germans came from Niklas Wellen. Harmanpreet Singh gave an outstanding performance to balance this goal too.
It was amazing to see the entire team of Indian Hockey in the Olympics today with such great action.
The final goal by Simranjeet Singh would not have been possible without the fine stroke made by Rupinder Singh. So the entire Indian Hockey team deserves a big shoutout.
