Kaulig Racing just announced that AJ Allmendinger will be driving the No. 16 Cup car at Daytona 500. Earlier this year, it was announced that AJ might be returning back to the Xfinity series. However, the newest announcement has put that speculation to rest.
In the 2023 Cup Series, AJ only managed to secure one win and seven Top-10 finishes. The last time AJ was racing the Daytona 500, he managed to secure a sixth position. Therefore Kaulig has played his cards right in hopes of getting another good start to the 2024 season.
Back On Track
Kaulig has been a racer all throughout his life. As a result, the 42-year-old speedster knows a thing or two about finishing well. He might have to put in a double shift as he will be racing in Xfinity as well as the Cup Series. His part-time return to the Cup Series was just announced on X with a post, “Driving the No.16 Chevrolet, @AJDinger will make his 11th start in The Great American Race on February 18, 2024!”
Back in 2019, when AJ was working as an analyst for NBC, Kaulig Racing brought him back on the racetrack. However, it was not until 2023 that AJ started competing professionally. Unfortunately, he missed out on the chance to race in the playoffs. But now he is back to tear up the tarmac.
