The NBA is already rocked by the recent ‘good trade or not’ debate. And what recently happened to the Bucks shows that team synergy is one of the most important things.
Even though the Bucks managed to clinch a landslide victory against the Philly 76ers, things seemed quite different when they faced the Atlanta Hawks. This encounter at their home turf left the Bucks humbled.
But fans do not see this as one fluke incident. In fact, several fans see the Jrue Holiday trade as the reason behind this. Back when Holiday was traded for Lillard, fans claimed that this was a team-breaking move as it would mess up the team’s synergy.
Things seemed to go well for the Bucks during the opening games. Damian Lillard managed to pull off a whopping 39-point score during the first regular match. Fans were actually considering that they were wrong, but the Atlanta game has brought them back to square one.
What Went Wrong?
In the match with Hawks, Lillard just managed to register a tally of Six points, five assists, and four rebounds. Even though Giannis Atentokuonmpo tried to hold the teams at the seams so that they would not fall apart, it was not enough.
In a post-game interaction with the Hawks, Lillard tried explaining his side of the story in order to help people understand what went wrong between the 76ers and the Hawks match.
In Lillard’s words, “You know we not playing a good game; it’s going. It can be that way, you know. Especially early in the season, you know, when you are trying to figure things out, trying to find the identity.”
He further added, “I got to get better, you know. When that’s happening, I can’t be the guy turning the ball over.” This self-realization is certainly a step forward. Let us see how it pans out for the team.
