Bathurst 1000 is one of the most prestigious racing events. This event has seen Shane Van Gisbergen win the crown of champion back to back.
While this news is a welcome addition for the Trackhouse Racing. Halfway across the world, Trackhouse’s Ross Chastain has faced a rough exit from the NASCAR Cup Series. Therefore, this creates a dichotomous situation for the officials.
While Gisbergen created history on the track, Chastain’s loss was an unexpected one and quite painful for the team.
Van Gisbergen, who is planning to switch to NASCAR for a full-time career, created history when he clinched a victory with the largest margin in 24 years. He is the only one since 2008 who has won the Bathurst title back to back. This monumental victory came just before his apparent switch to NASCAR.
In an emotionally charged interview, Gisbergen said, “For now, this is the perfect way to say goodbye… I’ll be back one day, probably.” Therefore keeping fans happy and anticipating his return in the far future.
The Good & The Bad
Meanwhile, on the other side of the world, NASCAR was not being kind to Trackhouse Racing’s Ross Chastain.
While AJ Allmendinger won the Bank of America ROVAL 400 and proceeded to the next round, some notable names like Kyle Busch and Ross Chastain exited the playoff. This proved the unpredictability and uncertainty of the racing world.
Even though fans were not at all expecting Chastain to exit the playoff, it was, however, not as unexpected as everyone wanted to believe. Chastain entered the Charlotte race, treading on thin ice.
Chastain was already in a tight spot as he was hovering just 12 points above the elimination line. Even though Chastain hoped to pull off this race in his favor, the results were not what he expected at all.
