On the eve of the 2023 business end, USA Swimming just announced the ticket sales for the 2024 Olympics trials. The trial is already being promoted quite late and has been termed ‘Nine Days of Swimming’ by the necessary authorities. However, fans and analysts believe that the event will be especially beneficial for the US team. But before the event can take place, certain issues need to be sorted.
Previously, the swimming coaches predicted that the USA’s swimming could hit a slump, but recent projections show that it will not be the case. Therefore, the event was shifted to Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. This handover from Omaha to Indianapolis was a sharp shift, as Omaha has been a staple venue for the last 4 Olympic games.
Unsold Seats
However, one of the most alarming issues of the whole deal is that several tickets have remained unsold even after the event was shifted to a bigger venue to accommodate a larger crowd. This earned a major ridiculing from Branden Keith of Barstool Sports media on his Twitter account.
In a charged statement, he said, “I always thought Omaha was good but not perfect. Because of the overlap with CWS, it really needed another 2,000 hotel rooms”. He further added, “I’d rather see a sellout of 18k seats in an ideal venue than chasing the 30k in Lucas Oil where about half the seats are terrible, no seats on the one side, etc.”
Jokes aside, this can be a major issue for the whole event as the organizers can choose to sit the event out. Only time will tell what the future holds for the event. Keep following us for more sports-related content and news.
