The celebration for the Ultimate Fighting Champion’s annual International Fight Week starts on July 8. The cards are set and highlighted with two title sessions. The main event will be where featherweight champ Alexander Volkanovski will go against interim winner Yair Rodriguez in a unification match.
The next one is for Brandon Moreno. So, he has to secure his flyweight belt in the co-headliner rematch opposite Alexandre Pantoja. The UFC 290 is going to happen in Las Vegas at the T-Mobile Arena.
Volkanovski is presently in second place in the sport as a pound-for-pound male fighter at MMA. He is aiming for the fifth successive title defense just after falling flat against Islam Makhachev for two-division glory this February.
To achieve that, he will have to leave Rodriguez behind, who has the interim title at present and would have to win against Josh Emmett in the second round.
Pantoja and Moreno have gone against each other twice, and Morena has fallen short both times. Moreover, their first session came on TUF 24 in the 2016 exposition. Also, Pantoja won by the second-round rear-naked choke. He won the rematch through a unified decision in the 2018 UFC bout.
The main lineup turns out to be a match between the number one contender. Robert Whittaker, previous UFC Middleweight champion and rising competitor. Dricus Du Plessis, then a thrilling lightweight fight between Dan Hooker and Jalin Turner.
